As the commercial hub of the Sunshine Coast, Maroochydore is centrally located and is the most densly populated area within the region. Close enough to support the nearby tourist areas of Mooloolaba and Caloundra, it has large shopping complex's, such as Sunshine Plaza. In addition, its proximity to the Sunshine Coast Airport and as home to the Translink major bus interchange Maroochydore it is somewhat a gateway to the region.

Heading North from Maroochydore is Mt Coolum, the world's 2nd largest monolith. At the base of this, on the beach front, is another fast growing area for toursim, with its own shopping precinct, Surf Club and restaurants supporting the nearby accommodation. From here it is only a short drive north, through Sunshine Beach to Noosa.

To the South, via Alexandra Headland and Mooloolaba is Kawana Waters and further on Caloundra, both which have seen rapidly increasing populations and visitor numbers during the past decade. Together these locations mean the whole coastline holds so much to see and explore.
