With a long sandy and protected beach, a safe harbour and elevated coast, Mooloolaba is not only the social and dining centre of the Sunshine Coast but also one of the best places to get wet. Stepping off the beach into cafes, bars and restaurants is a frequesnt occurance with great tiolet facilities along the forshore. Infact so well placed are these they have built viewing platforms on the roof and the locals have dubbed the building the 'Loo with a View'

In July 2005 the warship HMAS Brisbane was sunk 9km off the Mooloolaba Coast in 28m of water, becoming an instant artificial reef and dive site. The popular location is a National Marine Park and access is strictly regulated through local dive operators and state government.

Perhaps the biggest attactration to the region is not the beach itself but Australia Zoo, the wildlife park that was the lifelong project for one of Australia's greatest sons, Steve Irwin. Sitting in the Hinterland behind the coast at Beerwah, the zoo allows visitors to get up close and personal with many of Australia's native and sometimes deadly creatures such as Crocodiles, Snakes, Kangaroos, Koalas and Dingo's.
