Here’s some inspiration for your next trip.
Amusement and theme parks
These probably need no introduction, but if you’re looking for a dose of adrenaline, some happy snaps with some of your favourite characters and a seriously awesome day out, you’ll want to venture to one – or all – of the Gold Coast’s theme parks. Great with friends or for a family day out, there are a selection of rides, shows and goodies to keep everyone occupied. Most parks are a quick 20 to 30-minute drive from the city.
Learn to surf
A trip to the Gold Coast simply isn’t complete without enjoying a day at the beach. With the Quicksilver Pro held on the Gold Coast, you know the locals are pretty into their surfing. If you think you have the skills or you’re ready for a challenge, spend the day trying to tame those waves with some surf lessons.
Spend a day with the wildlife
Jump in the car and head on down to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for some close encounters with some Australian wildlife. From soft and cuddly to tiny and spiky, you’ll find all of the Australian favourites in the one place. Walking a bit too slow pace for you? You can kick it up a notch and explore the sanctuary while on a Segway.
The sanctuary isn’t just about the wildlife though. Get your comfy workout gear on and take to the trees. The TreeTop Challenge will get those muscles moving and adrenaline pumping as you complete a number of obstacle courses and ziplines.
Reach new heights with a climbing adventure
If those trees aren’t high enough, you can take to the sky in an unforgettable climbing experience atop the Q1 Resort Building. Taking 90 minutes, you’ll reach a 270-metre peak where you’ll enjoy an incredible 360-degree view of the Gold Coast and surrounding areas. Complete the climb during the day for the gorgeous sunny view, or take advantage of the night climb for a picturesque view of the Gold Coast up in lights.
Peer at the wonders of the Glow Worm Caves
Speaking of lights, located in Mt Tamborine in the Gold Coast Hinterland you’ll find glow worm caves that are waiting to wow you. Perfect for children and the little kids in all of us, a glow-worm adventure will leave anyone in awe as you see your very own light show that’s like magic. You don’t have to wait until night-time to see these beauties, as these purpose-built caves create a shroud of darkness allowing you to visit the worms in the middle of the day.
If you’re up for some more natural wonders after your cave visit, there are plenty of things to see around the caves. Drive approximately 10 minutes and you can also enjoy the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk.
From adrenaline to natural beauty, the Gold Coast has the perfect adventure no matter what your pace.
